COINS, ASTA'S CART & HOTEL ROOM UPGRADES
NAVIGATION
In the Domed City, prizes are often in the form of different coins.
Skull & Wings Coin: Some Paragons in the City require you to pay them to revive people properly after a Ceremony. This is what that coin's main purpose is for! While people will be revived regardless - the Evocated wants all of your memories first before it lets you perish - this will ensure that you're returned with all of your senses and emotions.
Puzzle Coin: Asta will accept these and return a memory to you. Or you can also purchase special items that will be available from her cart. She'll be at/around the Hotel every couple of days. Does the Evocated know what she's up to? Dwbi.
Hotel Coin: These coins are for hotel room purchases and upgrades. While you can use the other coins for hotel purchases, this coin has been introduced so that Memoirs aren't using up all their coins just for a couple of creature comforts. Like privacy!
There are multiple ways to earn coins both in and outside of Ceremonies, so don't worry if you can't make them! Sparks will also be able to hand out different coins based on tasks and other things they may run.
Asta's Cart
Today, when you step outside the hotel, you'll find that an elaborate cart -- like a trader's -- has pulled up and parked nearby. How did it get here? There's no visible motor nor are there animals pulling it, but there it is.
Circling around back, you'll find that it's wide open, with the proprietor seated behind a counter of sorts. Near the counter sits a jukebox, though it's eerily silent for now. As for the proprietor? Well, she's a young woman with pink hair, a smile on her face, and eyes that could be described as "wild." A nametag on her cloak is visible for all to read: "ASTA." The counter is big enough to keep some distance between her and her customers and it's high up enough that anyone would have difficulty jumping up on it. Fortunately, there seems to be a little opening where she can drop potential goods inside for you to take.
The jukebox clicks and gears move as it accepts the coin and selects a song.
It's something nostalgic; an actual song from your memories or something that would suit the memory as it returns to you. Background music, as it were.
Which might help or may make things a little awkward because as your memory returns to you, you don't just remember it again.
Your thoughts, your feelings, any and everything you experienced - you feel it all, the same way you did when it was happening. The warmth of a hug, the heartbreak of losing a loved one - even the bite of a wound, it all feels as fresh as if it was happening right now. Thought thankfully, any wounds do not reopen or appear and it's only the feeling you experience.
Thankfully, it doesn't last very long - when the song ends, your memory will be returned to you in full.
The notch lit up on your pendant changes colors, a very faint pink color instead of white.
Hotel Rooms and Upgrades
There is a small kiosk set up next to the reception desk with a coin slot on it.
The screen says Welcome to Domed City #77's Rooms & Upgrades kiosk!
Tapping BEGIN brings you to the next screen, where you can select ROOM or UPGRADE - well, if the latter wasn't greyed out. But tapping ROOM brings you to a screen requesting five coins for a hotel room. Any of the coins you've won work, so mix and match as you like.
Pop those babies in, type in the names of whoever will be staying there and hit submit and a key from behind the reception desk jingles, letting you take it off the wall. Congratulations, you've got your own simply furnished room, with either two full sized beds or a single queen and a basic bathroom. You're welcome!
